SK federation in Negros Oriental elects new leaders

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental — The provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation has chosen a new leader to represent the youth at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as ex-officio member.

Bindoy SK federation president Adem Maxino garnered 16 points against Dumaguete SK federation president Danni Tolentino, who got nine votes, in what provincial Interior and Local Government officer Dennis Quiñones said was a very successful exercise Wednesday at the Negros Oriental Convention Center here.

Maxino’s vice president is Tristan Gold Torillo, the SK federation president of Bayawan City, who also got 16 votes as against nine votes of Emmanuel Bacay, SK federation president of the municipality of San Jose.

In an interview, Maxino said she is grateful to those who voted for her and very honored for giving her “the mandate and highest responsibility in the SK leadership”.

By the time the new SK leadership assumes office, Maxino said she will convene its officers and members for their three-year development plan.

Losing candidates Tolentino and Bacay congratulated the winners, saying they will support the plans and programs of the provincial SK leadership for the good of the youth.

For his part, Torillo said his stint is more challenging because of the reformed SK Act.

He wants to implement projects that are good for the environment.

Quinones reminded the newly-elected provincial SK officers that what is entrusted to them is a public office thus, they must act as public servants all the time.

The other elected officers include Dauin SK federation president Blanche Solamillo, as secretary; Mabinay SK federation president Avon Loraine Mission, treasurer; Bais City SK federation president Christene May Amazon, auditor; Ayungon SK federation president Jasper Jacob Nusan, PRO and Vallerhermoso SK Christian Jay Cabebe, sgt-at-arms. (Juancho Gallarde/PNA)
