Some poll machines malfunction in Nueva Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — Some voter registration verification machines (VRVMs) experimentally used in pilot areas, which include this province, malfunctioned on Election Day, Monday.

These include a machine for a cluster precinct that involved precincts 0318B, 0919A, 0320A, and 0320B at the Cabu Elementary School in Barangay Cabu here.

A member of the board of election tellers said they had to proceed without the VRVM and everything turned out well.

The same happened in some precincts at the Lazaro Francisco Elementary School, also in this city, according to reports.
Nueva Ecija, which has more than 1.4 million voters, is one of the pilot areas for the VRVM which, if successful, will be used in the 2022 presidential elections.

The others are Cebu, Negros Occidental, Zamboanga del Sur, Davao del Norte, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Manila, and Quezon City.

Aside from the VRVM, several vote counting machines (VCMs) reportedly malfunctioned in different areas of Nueva Ecija.

Local election officials have yet to issue official statements regarding the malfunction of these machines.
