Southwest monsoon to bring light to moderate rains

MANILA—The southwest monsoon will continue to bring light to moderate rains in some parts of the country on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. forecast, PAGASA said Bataan, Zambales, Northern Palawan, Mindoro provinces and western Visayas will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

Bicol region and eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the trough of severe tropical storm “Jongdari”.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will get isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also reported that the center of “Jongdari” is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) or 1,640 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, with maximum winds of 90 kms. per hour near the center and gusts of up to 115 kph.

It added that it is likely to be warm for the next four days until the weekend.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25-31 degrees Celsius; Baguio City ranges from 16-21 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao 24-33 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25- 32 degrees; and Metro Davao 26-33 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
