Southwest monsoon continues to affect Luzon Wednesday

MANILA—The southwest monsoon will continue to dump rains over the western part of Luzon Wednesday.

In its 4 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Ilocos and Cordillera regions, Zambales, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

Two typhoons have also been observed outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Typhoon “Cimaron” was seen 2,000 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum winds of 145 kms. per hour and gustiness of up to 180 kph and moving northwest at 25 kph.

Typhoon “Soulik” was at 1,245 kms. northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum winds of 169 kph and gusts of 195 kph.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25-30 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-34 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-19 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 26-34 degrees, and Metro Davao 25-33 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
