Southwest monsoon enhanced by 2 tropical storms outside PAR

MANILA—The southwest monsoon, enhanced by two tropical storms, continues to affect northern Luzon, bringing light to, at times, heavy rains in some parts of the country on Thursday.

In its 4 a.m. update, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical Storm “Bebinca” was located at 1,280 kilometers west of extreme northern Luzon while Tropical Storm “Rumbia” was observed at 1,085 north northeast of extreme northern Luzon.

Both Bebinca and Rumbia are outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The weather bureau said the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos provinces, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

Eastern and central Visayas, Caraga, Davao region and Northern Mindanao will have cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of low pressure area.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature over Metro Manila ranges from 26-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-34 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 15-19 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 25-31 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 26-32 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 26-33 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 25-32 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
