MANILA — Rains are expected on Wednesday due to the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin on Tuesday, PAGASA said Palawan, Mindoro, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Western Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula would experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
The weather bureau cautioned of possible flooding and landslides due to scattered rains or thunderstorms in these areas.
The southwest monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, rest of Mimaropa, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Northern and central Luzon are also forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

In a weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said they are monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but is not forecast to enter the PAR.
It was last spotted 1,590 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon and is expected to become a tropical depression in the next four or five days.
The LPA has no direct effect yet on any part of the country.
The country will also have slight to moderate seaboards in the next 24 hours. However, no gale warning was issued in any part of the country that could allow fisherfolks and those with small boats to head out to sea.
PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-34 degrees Celsius across the country until Saturday.
