SPMC begins administration of second COVID-19 dose

The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) on Monday started the administration of the second dosage of COVID-19 vaccines to its employees.

According to SPMC Chief Dr. Ricardo Audan, around 764 individuals who were vaccinated on March 5 were inoculated today. The vaccination will last until Saturday to cover the vaccination of 3,841 employees with CoronaVac.

More than 1,000 employees are also set to receive the second dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in May.

Meanwhile, security measures were tightened in Davao City last week to ensure compliance with health protocols. Local government units are also prepared for a possible post-holiday surge following the observance of Holy Week.

City Health Officer-in-Charge Dr. Ashley Lopez said the occupancy rate of more than 20 COVID-19 facilities in the city is below 15%. Lopez added that they are preparing everything as they were instructed by the mayor “to anticipate” the spike. – Regine Lanuza/PTV Davao/AG-JBB
