SSS upbeat on Davao revenue collection

DAVAO CITY–The Social Security System (SSS) is confident on hitting its revenue target this year, with PHP4.8 billion already collected for the first half of the year.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Dooc said SSS-Davao is targeting a PHP7.8-billion revenue collection for 2018. It has so far collected PHP4.8 billion for the six months of the year, representing 62 percent of the target, Dooc said in a press conference on Monday at the SSS-Davao Office.

Dooc said SSS-Davao could even hit PHP8 billion, enabling it to fully sustain its disbursement of benefits of members.

In the first quarter, SSS-Davao (Mindanao South 1 Division) reported a contribution collection of PHP838.41 million from January to March 2018. This was 9 percent higher from the PHP766.71 million collected in the same period last year. Mindanao South 1 covers Davao Occidental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur.

The high collection was attributed to the intensified coverage of job order and contractual employees under the KaltaSSS-Collect Program.

According to Dooc, the Southern Mindanao Division was able to collect PHP13.79 million from over 11,000 job orders and contractual workers.

He said even regular government employees have joined the pension fund as self-employed members.

“This is a good indication that they also trust the SSS in providing them with an extra layer of protection aside from the Government Service Insurance System benefits,” he added. (Lilian Mellejor/PNA)
