Stakeholders, civil society partners to give inputs on Marawi rehab

MANILA — All stakeholders and civil society partners will be given a chance to participate in the rehabilitation and recovery initiatives for war-torn Marawi City.

“We are well-cognizant of the situation in the affected areas and are in touch with the realities being experienced by our brothers and sisters. All our efforts are consultative and participatory in nature being one with the Maranawons in this rebuilding process,” Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) spokesperson Kristoffer James E. Purisima said in a statement Saturday.

The Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) has already identified the needs, damages and losses incurred from the siege based on the Post Conflict Needs Assessment (PCNA).

Priority programs, projects and activities were identified as a result of a series of consultations with concerned sectors and stakeholders.

The rehabilitation of Marawi City will focus not only on the structural aspect of rebuilding but also reviving a once productive community.

TFBM will continue to implement participatory, whole-of-nation approach in all its efforts with the help of the Sultanates, community leaders, the Ulamas and the local and provincial government of Marawi City and Lanao del Sur all geared towards rebuilding a better Marawi City.

“In all our efforts, we align our actions to the goal of rebuilding communities inclusive of peace and security interventions. As the task force in charge of rehabilitating Marawi City, we stand firm in our commitment to build back Marawi better,” TFBM chairperson Eduardo D. Del Rosario said.

The five-month fighting in Marawi City, which stemmed from attacks by the Maute Group last May 23, lasted for five months, ending only in October when Abu Sayyaf leader and ISIS Southeast Asia Emir, Isnilon Hapilon, was killed by military units along with Omar Maute and other leaders of the terror group. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
