Survey has ‘crystal clear’ message to PRRD critics: Palace

MANILA – A new Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s net satisfaction rating surging to ‘very good’ +66 has a ‘crystal clear’ message to his critics and detractors, Malacañang on Thursday said.

“The message of the survey is crystal clear. The more the critics and detractors malign PRRD, the higher the rating he gets,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo reacted after Duterte’s net satisfaction rating jumped by six points and tied his personal high set in June 2017.

“These political adversaries are being swallowed by their own hubris. Survey after survey they are being repudiated. They appear to be ensconced if not entangled in their own web of lies that they cannot unshackle themselves from it,” he added.

Panelo also said the critics, detractors, and the opposition “have been deaf to the voice of a great majority” and “blind to the sweeping changes in the political and social landscape” in the country.

He said the opposition and Duterte’s critics should now join the majority of the Filipino people supporting the administration’s programs designed to create a better and prosperous country.

“Rather than continue with their hate campaign against the President they should join the majority supporting administration’s programs designed to serve and protect the nation and its citizenry and start contributing for the country’s progress,” Panelo said in a statement.

Panelo said Duterte will remain undaunted by the negative forces trying to dissuade the country’s first leader from Mindanao from fulfilling his campaign promises.

“President Duterte is racing against time to fulfill his campaign promise of slaying the dragon of illegal drugs, criminality, corruption and rebellion, as well as providing the people with a comfortable life under a reign of peace during his term,” Panelo said.

“No negative force will detract him from his goal of liberating the people from the causes that enslave them and stunt the growth of the country,” he added.

Panelo said more Filipinos have started to appreciate the sincerity of Duterte to continue what he has been doing for the last three years despite relentless attacks by his detractors.

“Our people from all across geographic areas see his (Duterte) sincerity in realizing his sacred vow to the electorate and witness the tangible results of his people-centered decisions and decisive actions that foster genuine and positive change,” he said.

“Destiny has placed this President at the helm of this troubled land, so it is his destiny to remove it from its distress and lead it to a state of peace and progress,” he added.

The SWS survey, conducted from March 28 to 31 this year, found that 79 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with Duterte’s performance while 8 percent were undecided and 13 percent are dissatisfied.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating has increased in all areas, owing the 6-point rise to increases of 15 points from +73 in December 2018 to a “new record-high” +88 classified as excellent in Mindanao; 7 points from +62 to +69 in the Visayas; 4 points from +52 to +56 in Balance of Luzon; and 3 points from +58 to +61 in Metro Manila.

The survey had 1,440 respondents and a sampling error of ±2.6 percent.
