Suspected robbers nabbed for ASEAN gun ban

DASMARIŇAS CITY, Cavite – This city police arrested suspected riding-in-tandem robbers along Molino Road, Barangay Paliparan 3 in this city for violating the 15-day ban on carrying of firearms for the duration of the ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.

Dasmariñas City police officers PO2 Ansbert Andres, PO2 Jeremiah U. Feliciano, PO1 Paul Greg Madula and PO1 German Cabudol III nabbed the two suspects, believed to be robbers at  about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday during their heightened police checkpoint operations “Oplan Sita” near the Molino Road gasoline station.

Police identified the two suspects as Mark Anthony Quirido Masbang, 24 and Menard Hamor Sabadez, 30, both residents on # 187 NIA Road, Barangay Salawag in this city.

Investigations disclosed that the suspects, aboard a red and black RUSI motorcycle without plate number, carried a small firearm during the checkpoint operations.

The law enforcers flagged down the suspects and demanded for the driver’s license when they noticed the driver-suspect was jittery.

The police officers were prompted to frisk the suspect and recovered from his possession a caliber .38 revolver marked MHS which was referred to as one of the suspect’s name initials.

Police have prepared appropriate charges against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act and the security policy banning the carrying of firearms outside the residence for the duration of the ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
