Suspected syndicate leader nabbed in Cavite town

GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite – A suspected leader of the Basa Group, a criminal syndicate involved in gunrunning, robbery-extortion, carnapping and swindling in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Region and the National Capital Region (NCR), was arrested Sunday by joint operatives in Barangay Memije here.

The arrest came after joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Force Unit (RFU) 4A, Cavite Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and this town’s police force conducted a search warrant operation under “Oplan Paglalansag” and “Oplan Salikop.”

Police arrested the suspect Aniceto Cabillon Basa of 441 Ruby St., Barangay Memije here, through a search warrant issued by Judge Agripino G. Morga of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 29-32 in San Pablo City dated June 20, 2018 for violation of Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.

During the raid, the operatives confiscated a cal. 45 Colt pistol with serial number 70N181141 with magazine and ammunition; two magazines for M16; another .45-caliber pistol with SN 2207111 with two Hicap magazines.

Also confiscated were three maroon CIS poloshirt; a black CIDG jacket; a black police long sleeved shirt; pair of PNP uniform with the Chief Superintendent shoulder board; a PNP buckle with the rank Superintendent; a handcuff; a camouflage green upper; a fake gold bar and several identification cards.
