SWS: 51% of Filipinos ‘confident’ in gov’t evaluation of COVID-19 vaccines

51% of Filipinos are “confident” in the government’s evaluation of the COVID-19 vaccines that are being distributed in the Philippines.

In the recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Friday (May 21), it showed that 51% of adult Filipinos are “confident,” 31% are “uncertain” while 17% are “not confident” in the national government’s evaluation of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The survey also revealed that 32% of adult Filipinos are willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, 35% are “unsure” while 33% are not willing to get inoculated.

The SWS shared that Metro Manila has the highest number of individuals willing to be vaccinated. It added that Mindanao has the highest confidence in the government’s evaluation of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to the survey, “personal protection and COVID-19 prevention” are the “top reasons” to get vaccinated while “fear of side effects” is the top reason for being “uncertain and unwilling” to get jabbed.

The survey was conducted on April 28 to May 2.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the recent survey result has improved since the vaccine confidence of Filipinos has increased to 51%.

“Nagagalak kami na tumaas na ang vaccine confidence to 51%. Nakakataas ng kumpiyansa yung nabakunahan na ang kapitbahay. Nariyan din ang listahan ng mga aprubadong bakuna. Magkakaroon pa tayo ng mas pinaigting na info drive. Importante lahat ng Pilipino ay mabakunahan,” he said.
