SWS: 9 out of 10 Filipinos are in ‘great stress’ due to COVID-19

The Social Weather Stations (SWS) has revealed that 9 out of 10 Filipinos are experiencing “great stress” due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

Based on the survey conducted on May 4 to May 10, those who have lost their jobs and livelihood have experienced the most stress.

In the SWS result that surveyed 4,010 respondents with age 15 and above, 55 percent of the country’s workforce is experiencing “great stress” while 38 percent is experiencing “much stress.”

58 percent of those under “great stress” are in the “no-work, no-pay” situation.

The survey also showed 68 percent are part of families who “experienced involuntary hunger” in the past three months.

Overall, 63 percent of the workforce from Visayas are under “great stress”, 58 percent from Metro Manila, 55 percent from Mindanao and 51 percent from other parts of Luzon. – Report from Ryan Lesigues
