The Social Weather Station (SWS) has revealed that around 5.2 million Filipinos have experienced involuntary hunger in the past three months.

In a survey conducted by the SWS from July 3 to July 6, the results showed 20.9% of Filipinos have experienced “involuntary hunger”, 15.8% have experienced “moderate hunger” and 5.1% have experienced “severe hunger”.

This was brought about either by the loss of jobs or means to buy food since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
