SWS result on cash aid survey ‘a fulfillment’ of PRRD’s vow – Palace

Malacañang has welcomed the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey saying that 71 percent of Filipino families “received money-help from government since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.”

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the result proves that government assistance reached many Filipinos.

“This is indeed a fulfillment of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s vow to make up for the loss of economic opportunities when quarantine measures were imposed,” Harry Roque stated.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was also pleased about the figures, saying that the survey result is proof of the SAP objective to address the needs of low-income families during a crisis.

DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao assured that measures for the distribution of cash assistance are ongoing, including the identification of beneficiaries.

“Hindi ito karugtong ng SAP dahil iba ang mga benepisyaryo at tulong na ipapahatid (This new assistance is not a continuation of SAP because the beneficiaries and aid are different),” Dumlao clarified.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte met anew with members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to discuss the COVID-19 response of the government which was followed by his regular weekly address. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
