MANILA — The tail-end of a cold front will prevail over Visayas and the province of Palawan, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Monday.
In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin, which is effective for 24 hours, PAGASA said Visayas and the province of Palawan would experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the tail-end of the cold front. A tail-end of a cold front is composed of two air masses, one hot and one cold, but could bring rains to its covered areas.
The state-run weather bureau also cautioned of possible flooding or landslides caused by light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.
The regions of Bicol and Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Eastern Visayas, and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will also have cloudy skies with scattered rains due to the northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan”, which are cold winds blowing from Siberia, Russia to the country every mid-October and strengthens every mid-December.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon will also prevail over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of Luzon.
Mindanao, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms.
Strong to gale force winds will also cause rough to very rough coastal waters in the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas.
The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao will also have moderate to rough coastal waters pushed by moderate to strong winds.
Slight to moderate coastal waters will also prevail over the other parts of Mindanao due to light to moderate winds. (PNA)
