Thirdy Ravena joins Gilas practice

MANILA — Fresh from a late call-up, Thirdy Ravena quickly made his way to the practice of Gilas Pilipinas for the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

The Ateneo King Eagle, who was recently named the lone Gilas Cadet called up to the erstwhile all-Elite training pool, went to the Meralco Gym in Pasig on Thursday to join the Nationals in practice, just a couple of hours after he played in their Philippine Collegiate Champions League semifinal showdown against the San Beda Red Lions at the nearby Ynares Sports Arena.

Ravena joined 11 Elites who took part in just Gilas’ second practice for the February window.

Raymond Almazan, Mark Barroca, Jayson Castro, Poy Erram, June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Paul Lee, Gabe Norwood, RR Pogoy, Troy Rosario, and Scottie Thompson were present among the Philippine Basketball Association stars called up to the pool.

Japeth Aguilar, who was in an observer’s role during the first practice on Monday night at the Ynares Sports Arena, was not in attendance.

Naturalized players Andray Blatche and Chris Standhardinger remain absent for various reasons.

Blatche is still in the United States, while Standhardinger is still recuperating from a knee injury.
