Tiaong Convention Center to boost economic activities

TIAONG, Quezon – Governor David C. Suarez on Wednesday welcomed the continuing construction boom in the province, especially with the construction of the Tiaong Convention Center here, which is seen to boost the economic activities in the town.

Suarez and Tiaong Mayor Ramon Preza thanked Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar, who graced Saturday’s groundbreaking rites of the Tiaong Convention Center in Barangay Lumingon here.

Suarez expressed appreciation of the immense support of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Villar to the infrastructure projects in the province – in line with the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program.

The governor said it is important to develop Tiaong, the gateway to Quezon Province.

“It is important for Tiaong to have a convention center because it is a growing economic municipality. Having a legitimate convention center here will boost the economic activity of the municipality and also caters the needs of Batangas and Laguna,” Suarez said.

He said that through the DPWH support, the province could ensure the continuing development and set the brighter future for his constituents.

He also announced the initial fund of PHP 50 million for the convention center with the lot owned by municipal government.

Villar, who was guest of honor in the cornerstone-laying for the convention center, said the increasing infrastructure projects in the province like the new convention center in Tiaong town is only the start and could spur development in the area.

“Maswerte kayo dahil magaling ang gobernador ninyo at mayroon kayong progressive na mayor. Nakikita ko na napakalaki ng potensyal ng bayan ng Tiaong. Marami tayong proyekto ngayon para sa lalawigan ng Quezon na kasama sa build, build, build project ni Pangulong Duterte. Asahan niyo po na ang mga proyektong ito ay simula pa lamang (your are fortunate to have a competent Governor and a progressive mayor. I have witnessed the great potential of Tiaong. We have several projects for Quezon province under the “Build, Build, Build” project of President Duterte. Rest assured that this project is only the beginning),” Villar said.

On the other hand, Mayor Preza thanked the DPWH and Suarez for realizing one of Tiaong’s dream projects.

“Very significant po ang araw na ito. Mapalad po ang buong segunda distrito dahil naganap na ang pangarap ng ating bayan. Dito magaganap ang meeting of minds dahil hindi lang taga-Quezon ang makikinabang dito ngunit pati ang mga taga-ibang lalawigan (This is a very significant day for us and the province’s second district is fortunate that the town’s dream has been achieved. Here, the meeting of minds will happen not only from among Quezonians who will benefit from this convention center but also those from other provinces),” Preza said.

According to the mayor, plans are afoot to transform the site into a local government complex through partnerships and cooperation among stakeholders. (Gideon Belen/PNA)
