Tropical depression Gorio exits PAR

Tropical Depression Gorio slightly intensifies but is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday (August 4).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) monitored Gorio at 800 kilometers northeast of Extreme North Luzon at 4:00 p.m.

Gorio was seen to have stayed inside the PAR in less than a day, as it developed near the PAR’s northern boundary at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

While Gorio has exited the PAR, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon will still bring monsoon rains in the next 48 hours over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan, Zambales, and Bataan.

“Occasionally gusty conditions associated with the enhanced southwest monsoon will be experienced over the Northern and Western Luzon especially in the coastal and upland localities of these areas,” PAGASA said in its 5:00 p.m. weather bulletin on Wednesday.  (PAGASA) / CF – rir
