Trough of ‘Nyatoh,’ amihan continue to bring rains across PH

Many areas in the country will experience rains due to the trough of Typhoon ‘Nyatoh,’ the weather bureau said on Friday (Dec. 3).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Nyatoh was last tracked 1,645 kms. east of northern Luzon, outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). It packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kms. per hour and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

“It slightly intensified and continues to move away from PAR. However, its trough or extension will continue to bring rains over parts of the country,” weather forecaster Samuel Duran said.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, Negros provinces, and the southern portion of Palawan including Kalayaan Island.

PAGASA cautions against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will dampen Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.

This will cause isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, western seaboards of northern and central Luzon, and eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – jlo
