TS Siony to hit Northern Luzon

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Monday morning that Tropical Storm Siony has accelerated and may hit Northern Luzon later this week.

“Para naman sa Tropical Storm Siony, inaasahan po natin na lalapit siya rito sa Northern Luzon, araw iyan ng Friday (We are expecting tropical storm Siony to approach Northern Luzon on Friday),” the PAGASA said during the briefing of government officials at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) headquarters.

PAGASA’s 11:00 a.m. weather bulletin showed that Siony was spotted 620 kilometers East of Aparri, Cagayan as of 10:00 a.m., Monday and will keep moving “west-northwestward or northwestward today through tonight” before becoming “almost stationary” on Tuesday to Wednesday morning. It is currently moving west-northwestward at 40 km/h.

Siony has maximum sustained winds of “65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.” No tropical cyclone wind signal has been raised as of Monday afternoon due to Typhoon Siony.

PAGASA earlier said that it might exit Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, November 7.

The next weather bulletin by PAGASA on tropical storm Siony will be released today at 11:00 p.m. in their website. – PTV News Online
