Tsukii 2.0: Fil-Jap karateka handa na para sa Hanoi Games

Dugo’t pawis ang inilaan ng Filipino-Japanese karateka na si Junna Tsukii upang paghandaan ang muling pagtatanghal ng Southeast Asian (SEA) Games na gaganapin sa Hanoi, Vietnam sa susunod na linggo.

Dalawang ginto ang target ngayon na maibulsa ng 30-year-old karateka. Una na rito ang pagdepensa sa kanyang kauna-unahang gintong medalya sa women’s 50 kilogram kumite noong 2019 Manila SEA Games sa loob ng ilang taong pagasali rito. 

Habang ang pangalawa naman ay mula sa women’s team kumite kasama sina 2019 SEA Games gold medalist Jamie Lim, bronze medalist Mae Soriano, at ang bagong Fil-Japanese ng pambansang koponan na si Lemon Misu. 

“I must get gold because I need to show my experience in the world.I did a lot of sacrifice, gave all my energy and life for that, so my preparation is perfect,“ saad ni Tsukii sa eksklusibong panayam ng PTV DMIS.

Ayon kay Tsukii, dahil hindi kabilang ang karate sa disiplinang lalaruin sa 2024 Paris Olympics. Bukod sa Hanoi Games, target ding pagningningan ni Tsukii ang 2022 Asian Games at World Games.

Matatandaang nabigo si Tsukii na makasungkit ng Tokyo Olympic spot noong nakaraang taon na siyang motibasyon nito upang mas pag-igtingin pa ang kakayahan. 

Hangad din ni Tsukii na mahigitan ang kanyang ikaapat na ranggo sa World Karate Federation 50-kilograms kumite category.

“They removed Karate after Tokyo. World Games they choose based on ranks and after that Asian Games is also an important tournament for us. After Hanoi, I have to prepare, tuloy-tuloy just like last year,” she said.
