Two LPAs spotted in PH waters Saturday

MANILA – Two low-pressure areas (LPAs) spotted in Philippine waters are expected to bring some rains and moderate winds on Saturday (Oct. 23).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said an LPA was estimated at 75 km. southeast of Tacloban City, Leyte embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

The ITCZ and LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and Palawan, PAGASA said.

The second LPA was estimated at 100 km. west-southwest of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, brought by the northeasterly surface wind flow.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms brought by the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds headed northeast will blow over Northern Luzon, resulting in moderate to rough coastal waters.

Winds in the rest of the country will be light to moderate, headed northeast to northwest, with slight to moderate seas.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 25°C to 32°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 25°C; Tagaytay City, 20°C to 31°C; Metro Cebu, 26°C to 31°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 35°C. (PNA) – bny
