The Embassies of the United States, Canada, and Australia on Wednesday conveyed their readiness to extend assistance in the ongoing response efforts in areas severely hit by Typhoon Tino (international name: Kalmaegi).

U.S. Ambassador MaryKay Carlson said the U.S. Embassy in Manila is working with its partners in the Philippines and “stands ready to assist.”

“My heart goes out to everyone affected by Typhoon Tino’s devastation. We extend our condolences to the friends and families of those who perished and salute the brave first responders on the scene,” she said in a post on X.

The Canadian Embassy in Manila, for its part, said it is open to cooperating with relevant Philippine government agencies and humanitarian partners to address urgent needs and support recovery on the ground.

“The Embassy of Canada conveys its solidarity with those affected by Typhoon Tino in the central Philippines. We extend our condolences to those who have lost loved ones and our thoughts to communities coping with injury, displacement, and damage to homes and livelihoods,” it said.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown, meanwhile, sent his message of condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased in a separate post on X.

“My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who perished or are missing due to Tino. Australia stands ready to work with the Philippine government and our partners to assist in recovery efforts on the ground,” he said.

Several other foreign missions—the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, the European Union—likewise expressed similar messages of solidarity and sympathies to the typhoon victims.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, also conveyed its condolences on Wednesday and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Typhoon Tino brought severe devastation across Visayas and Mindanao, triggering massive flooding and killing more than a dozen people in several areas, including Cebu. (PNA)
