Undas 2022 ‘peaceful, orderly’ — PNP

By Gabriela Baron

This year’s observance of All Saints’ Day was “generally peaceful and orderly,” according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP deployed around 192,000 cops and established over 6,000 police assistance desks in cemeteries and memorial parks.

“Aside from minor incidents reported by different Police Regional Offices, no significant untoward incidents were monitored nationwide except for an accident that resulted to the death of a male individual due to electrocution at Eternal Peace Memorial Park, Brgy. Datu, Mabalacat City, Pampanga,” PNP PGen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said in a statement Nov. 2.

Azurin also reported the arrest of a certain Mowwamar Mama Kasan who was in possession of one unit caliber .22 revolver firearm with two ammunition at the entrance of Palanyag Cemetery in Brgy. San Dionisio, Parañaque City.

Azurin said deployed cops for Undas “will remain in their posts until public activity has returned to normal.”

He added that PNP units were also instructed to provide assistance to government health, aid, and public works personnel in preparation for Tropical Depression “Queenie.”

“We are confident that with the early preparations in coordination with local government units, national agencies, and private organizations, we will be able to save lives and minimize the effect of the calamity.”
