MANILA — The nationwide observance of “Undas” was generally peaceful, Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said.

A radio report of state-run Radyo Pilipinas said based on the data given by the PNP-National Operations Center, as of 6 a.m. Thursday, there were 2,255 contraband items confiscated by PNP operatives securing cemeteries nationwide.

Carlos said this can be broken down into 843 bladed weapons, 109 alcoholic drinks, 1,285 flammable items and 18 sets of playing cards.

The PNP also recorded untoward incidents nationwide. Police Regional Office-3 reported alarm and scandal and assault while Police Regional Office 5 reported theft incidents.

Carlos added the 5,897 PNP assistance hubs established nationwide, and manned by 27,928 police personnel, will continue operating until today, November 2. These policemen will be aided by 15,294 PNP road safety marshals, he said. (PNA)
