US doughnut firm joins Araw ng Dabaw celebration

DAVAO CITY – In celebration of the 81st founding anniversary of Davao City, an American doughnut company – Krispy Kreme — is celebrating Araw ng Dabaw with its campaign “Every One Is An Original”.

Krispy Kreme marketing officer for Mindanao Princess Payag said the campaign focuses on the person’s individuality that is why they wanted to align the system-wide campaign to its originality.

Since the Araw ng Dabaw is a special celebration, Payag said Krispy Kreme highlighted its Iconic Doughnut Tour and Create Your Own Doughnut activity at SM Ecoland Davao with kids from different Muslim tribes of Mindanao – Maguindanaon, Tausug, Maranaw, and Badjao.

The program was put together in cooperation with the Davao Peace Council and Humanitarian Organization for Peace and Engagements (H.O.P.E.) in providing a venue for kids to create their own original art through doughnuts.

Payag said when the company opened its first store in Davao City it had been partnering with other groups for community outreach programs like medical mission in barangay Biao in Tugbok and coastal clean-up in the Boulevard area just to name a few.

Payag also highlighted the summer season by kicking off with the Araw ng Dabaw treat offering half a dozen assorted Chocolate Glazed and Original Glazed doughnuts for only P149 in Davao City Krispy Kreme outlets in SM Ecoland, SM Lanang Premier and Gaisano Mall Bajada.

“Summer is always a time for fun, vacation and taking time to venture into our own passions,” she said.

“Every One Is An Original” is the company’s testament to how the brand continues to stay relevant and committed to its customers’ joy where this year creates an opportunity to celebrate every person’s individuality,” she said.

Also, she said the most exciting of all offers this summer is the one-of-a-kind beverage, Glazed Coffee Chiller. Krispy Kreme first came to Davao in 2012 and it has grown to three stores in different malls.

Payag said the business on the island continues to grow and in fact open its latest store in Mindanao at SM Downtown Premier in Cagayan de Oro City.

It is also finalizing a partnership with Malagos Chocolate for their chocolate based doughnuts wherein Malagos would be the source for its raw materials of the single origin cacao grown and produce by Malagos.

“We want the launch to be in Davao but it is still being finalized if it will be system wide or here,” she said. (Digna D. Banzon/PNA)
