WinS Program on a roll in thousands of schools nationwide

The Department of Education (DepEd)’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WINS) Program has improved cleanliness in about 35,000 educational institutions across the country. In the face of global alert where nearly half of the total number of schools in the world do not have proper handwashing facilities, the Philippines, consequent to said feat on school hygiene improvement, was labeled as role model on the matter and chosen to be the venue of the 7th WINS International Learning Exchange where 200 delegates of relative Asian organizations took part.

Despite the enhanced neatness in the learning institutions, the DepEd still addresses different problems related to hygiene like theft of taps and water tubes, and inadequate water supply there. On this predicament, the education arm strives to proliferate the utilization of motorized water pumps run by solar energy.
