Yap joins race for Bohol governor

TAGBILARAN CITY — Deputy House Speaker Arthur Yap filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor on Wednesday afternoon and would be heading for a collision with Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco.

Yap, who is on his third term as (3rd District) congressman, is running under the banner of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) – Padayon Bol-anon (Onward Boholano) coalition.

Yap’s running mate is Bohol (1st District) Rep. Rene Relampagos.

The House Deputy Speaker said he is running for governor to continue the development efforts of the province.

Incumbent Governor Edgar Chatto is no longer eligible to run for governor and is running as 1st District representative. He used to hold this position prior to his election as governor in 2010.

Agapito Avenido is the coalition’s bet for second district representative, while retired Mandaue City judge Carlos Fernando is running for congressman in the third district. (Dave Albarado/PNA)
