1.5M doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine arrive in PH

By Pearl Gumapos

Another 1.5 million doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccine arrived on Thursday morning at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 via a Cebu Pacific flight.

The new batch of vaccines counts as the third and biggest shipment of CoronaVac delivered to the country this month.

One million doses of the same COVID-19 vaccines were delivered last June 8 and June 10.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier said that the country is expecting 5.5 million CoronaVac shots this June.

On Wednesday, the Department of Health said it will be distributing 1 million Sinovac vaccines.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said over at ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo that the delivery was put on hold because the certificate of analysis was yet to be submitted by the manufacturer.

The certificate is necessary to ensure that the vaccines delivered are of good quality which ensures their safety and efficacy. -rir
