DAGUPAN CITY — Some 1,748 residents of the 4th District of Pangasinan have learned basic computer skills and troubleshooting since the Computer Development Vehicle (CDV) program was launched late last year.

CDV is a project of 4th District Representative Christopher de Venecia and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), which was started October 2017 in Barangay Mabilao in San Fabian.

“Bukas ang programa sa lahat ng gustong matuto na gumamit ng computer at iba pang kaalaman gaya ng basic photoshop, hardware troubleshooting at kung paano ang paggamit sa mga e-government services (The CDV is open to all who wants to learn how to use the computer and to know more about computer skills such as basic photoshop, hardware trouble-shooting and even on how to use electronic-government (e-government) services,” de Venecia said in an online interview on Monday.

He said the project aims to deliver computer literacy in every barangay.

A mobile classroom van equipped with desktop computers, tables and chairs, go around the 140 barangays of the 4th District, along with DICT-trained teachers who teach computer skills to the residents for free, he added.

The CDV is scheduled to serve residents of barangay Mamalingling here from Nov. 26 to Nov.30.

The program was recently named one of the six finalists to the National Tech4ED (Technology for Education) Awards 2018, which was held in Davao City.
