BACOLOD CITY — About 145 enrollees of the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP), which was initiated by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) here, are scheduled to graduate in the third week of July.
The data was based on the recent update on the second batch of enrollees, who are drug surrenderers, provided by the CADAC Reintegration and Reintegration Cluster led by the City Health Office.
The six-month program, which began in February, is conducted every Thursday by various facilitating teams consisting of social workers, medical staff and volunteers from faith-based organizations.
Elizabeth Caumban of the CADAC Secretariat earlier said the city government had set aside PHP1.5 million for the CBDRP, sourced from the special appropriation fund.
Drug surrenderers from each of the 10 stations of the Bacolod City Police have been chosen to undergo the free drug rehabilitation.
Caumban said the drug surrenderers should finish the six-month program for their names to be removed from the police drug list.
In November last year, 75 volunteers attended a three-day training to assist the second batch of CBDRP enrollees.
Of the 75 trainers, 10 teams were formed and assigned to each police station.
Each of the 10 teams has seven staff members — a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a nurse, a social worker, a member of a faith-based organization, a peer counselor, and a representative of the Bacolod police’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk.
The CADAC also assigned five facilitators, who will assist all the teams.
As of June 13, the CADAC has listed a total of 4,109 drug surrenderers in Bacolod, 583 of whom have been screened while 570 have been assessed and drug-tested.
In May last year, 65 drug reformists under the first batch completed the eight-week CBDRP out of the initial 105 enrollees. Some 35 of them availed of the after-care or support program. ( Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
