DAVAO CITY — Fifteen people facing various cases were arrested by law enforcement authorities during the implementation of the warrants of arrest in different areas in this city.
The operation was also the launch of Oplan Kalinaw, an enhanced anti-criminality campaign of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and other security forces from its Oplan Bulabog.
The simultaneous operations were conducted thru Area Security, Community Service and Protection Operations in Purok 4 and 5 in Isla Verde, Barangay 23-C; Malvar Alley in Barangay 7-A; San Francisco de Asis, Matina; Cabayugan 3 in Sasa; St. Jude, Buhangin District; Tibungco; Curvada, Lizada in Toril; Purok 21 Talipapa, Santo Niño in Tugbok; and, Puting Bato, Riverside in Calinan.
These resulted in the arrest, identity/background check, and profiling of 1,673 residents. Of the total number, 1,548 have IDs and 125 without ID.
Those arrested were Mario Cañete Dorado for violation of the Anti-Illegal Gambling law, Aldex Acacio, Lim, Helen Morante Gaspar, Ricardo Suico Tablo for grave coercion, Carlo Robillos Bandal for attempted homicide.
Also arrested were Nestor Tadtad Olbes for estafa, Dante Labininay Digamon for estafa, Celedonia Du Cañaberalia for violation of the Anti-Child Abuse law, Rowena Webon Chanco for estafa, Venido Talisok Estopin for robbery and violence against Intimidation of Person, Rey Datahan Eviota for malicious mischief and slight physical injury, Jimmy Corotan for illegal drugs, Mary Ann Dalugdug for gambling, Nicasio Bautista Tobias Jr. for illegal drugs, and Jean Haguisan for slight physical injuries.
Those arrested are now in the custody of the police stations.
They will also go through medical check-up before they will be presented to the court.
City Police Office director Sr. Supt Alexander Tagum said the operation was conducted with Task Force Davao, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Philippine Coastguard XI, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating agency ( NICA) XI, Bureau of fire and protection (BFP) XI, Criminal and Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) XI, and Regional Intelligence unit.
He said Oplan Kalinaw is a 4 in 1 package designed to initiate identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in urban poor communities in the city, manhunt operation and arrest of wanted persons hiding in these communities, community outreach/free medical check-up and medicines with vitamins, and community empowerment thru crime prevention education.
