1st Bike show highlights Cavite town tourism

SILANG, Cavite – The first ever bike show and expo “Padyakan sa Silang” will highlight this upland town’s sports tourism event on March 14 at the Patio Medina here.

Tourism officer Alexis Virata said the event would not just position biking as a form of recreation, exercise or sport, but the event doubles up as a means to support the local tourism’s goal to try alternative means to promote the town’s leisure destinations and scenic spots, “this time through sports.”

Virata said that the town, considered a favorite bike trail for both enthusiasts and racers, would be opening new bike lanes as alternative routes from the dangerous highways when going on a tour to Cavite’s upland towns to as far as Santa Rosa in Laguna.

The new bike lanes will not just serve as alternative and safer routes to bikers but help promote the municipality’s leisure destinations and beautiful scenic spots.

These new bike lanes will also spur the economic activities of various villages and suburbs like Sabutan, Iba, Munting Ilog, Tibig, Paligawan and Bucal.

The expo part of the event  will feature bike shop and firm partners like Gran Trail Cycles, Toto’s Bikeshop, Bikerschoys among other sponsors for product demonstration and displays.

For the bike show, local bike enthusiasts are welcome to display their hardware, whether MTB (Fullsus, Hardtail), Road Bike and Fat Bike categories.

The town also partners with LBC Ronda Pilipinas which is expected to draw support from spectators and biking enthusiasts for the soon-to-be launched bike lanes and ensure success for the event.

This is an activity open for all and interested parties may contact the local tourism office for more details. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
