2.9K families preemptively evacuated due to ‘Rosita’

MANILA — With Typhoon “Rosita” now crossing parts of Northern Luzon, a total of 2,928 families, or 10,122 individuals, were preemptively evacuated in Regions 1, 2, 3, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

This was disclosed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in its 6 a.m. Tuesday update, which was signed by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad.

Also, a total of 1,937 passengers, 189 rolling cargoes, 11 ships and one motor banca was reportedly stranded in the ports of Southern Luzon, Western Visayas, Bicol, Northeastern Luzon.

The NDRRMC also reported that the Department of Social Welfare and Development, through its Field Offices and the National Resource Operation Centers, have stockpiles and funds amounting to PHP1,403,575,664.48, which can be distributed for any eventuality. ( Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
