3 Cavite solons, vice-guv unopposed in May 2019 polls

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — A Cavite vice gubernatorial reelectionist and three out of eight candidates seeking to represent their respective congressional districts are running unopposed based on the Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) filed at the provincial Comelec office here Wednesday.

Cavite Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Sheryl Moresca-Julie said Thursday the four reelectionist candidates running unopposed may be considered virtual winners in the May 13, 2019 mid-term elections.

They include Vice Governor Ramon “Jolo” Revilla III of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), who is seeking his third and last term for the vice-gubernatorial post; incumbent Representatives Strike Revilla for Cavite (2nd District); Alex ‘AA’ Advincula (3rd District) and Luis ‘Jon Jon’ Ferrer IV (6th District) or the Lone District of General Trias City.

Strike has filed his bid for a second term as Cavite representative for the Lone District of Bacoor City while Advincula and Ferrer are seeking their third and last term as congressional representatives of their respective districts.

Also, (6th District) Board Member Felix ‘Jango’ Grepo, on his third term and Cavite Councilors’ League (CCL) Federation President and Ex-Officio Provincial Board Member Kerby Salazar — also as Board Member of 6th District — are running uncontested for the provincial council slots.

For local government chief executives, Noveleta Mayor Dino Reyes Chua and General Trias Mayor Antonio Ferrer are also assured of their reelection bid for next year’s polls since they have no opponents. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
