3 PH fighters slated in additions to ONE: Roots of Honor

MANILA — Three more Filipino fighters will join Joshua Pacio at ONE: Roots of Honor at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on April 12.

Pacio’s fellow Team Lakay member Edward Kelly, his brother Eric, and Ramon Gonzales will be featured in the fight card, where Pacio will try to reclaim the ONE strawweight title from Yosuke Saruta.

Eric Kelly, a former world title contender, will take on China’s Tang Kai.

Edward Kelly, on the other hand, will face off with South Korea’s Lee Sung-Jong.

Meanwhile, Gonzales will have Akihiro Fujisawa of Japan as his next opponent.

ONE: Roots of Honor will also feature Brazilian fighter Luis Santos, who once vied for the One welterweight belt at the said venue.

On April 24, 2015, Santos fought then champion and now Ultimate Fighting Championship contender Ben Askren for the belt at the MOA Arena but after an accidental eye poke, the match was declared a no-contest.

Both Santos and Askren were scheduled for a rematch a few months later but was called off due to Santos’ alleged weight issues, which his camp vehemently denied.
