CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Some 3,000 Cub Scouts from the different schools in the region are expected to participate in the 5th Central Luzon Regional Kab-o-ree set to be held at Fortunato F. Halili National Agricultural School in Barangay Guyong, Santa Maria, this province on Oct. 25-28.

With the theme “Scouting: Commitment to Excellence”, the activity aims to highlight cub scouting as a vital education program that helps institutions in molding the character of the youth and to provide more meaningful and relevant cub scouts activities.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said on Tuesday that instilling to the youth what they are capable of doing for the country at an early stage is essential and will be beneficial in the near future.

“It’s better to start trained them at their young age because in the future they will teach young people how to be responsible citizens, how to be always ready in any situation that they will chase each time,” Alvarado said.

Among the activities in the four-day event are scout skills training where the Cub Scouts will learn knot tying, scout law relay, and bandaging;

Other activities are outdoor exploration, team building, and scout advancement.

The Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) Bulacan Council, in partnership with the provincial government of Bulacan, will also present entertainment and cultural show.

Meanwhile, based on the Department of Education (DepEd) division memorandum No. 206, S. 2018, qualified participants are grade three pupils or eight years old and above and physically fit for activities.

It also stated that the delegation must have a minimum participant of 45 Cub Scouts and contingents are advised to bring their own tents and camping gears. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
