50 rookie cops take oath as CIDG members

MANILA — A total of 50 police recruits on Tuesday took their oath as new members of the Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG).

In a statement Wednesday, CIDG director Chief Supt. Amador Corpuz administered the mass oath-taking of new police recruits in a simple ceremony held at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame.

Out of 110 applicants, only 50 passed the rigid screening procedure that consist of physical fitness test, neuro-psychiatric exam, IQ test, and complete background investigation, apart from the minimum requirements of a four-year baccalaureate degree and eligibility exams.

Corpuz called on the new recruits to consider this activity as a golden opportunity, as the CIDG recruitment and screening process is strict.

“This is true for new recruits and police personnel who are interested to be a member of the Team CIDG, the PNP’s premier investigative unit,” he said.

He also encouraged the rookie policemen to always pray so they will not resign and they will become a valuable part of the Team CIDG.

The CIDG chief also emphasized the importance of the presence of families, relatives and friends of police recruits during their oath-taking ceremony.

“Families will serve as their inspirations during the gruesome period of recruit training, especially their children and for that, he thanked them for giving their time to witness this special event,” Corpuz said.

He also urged the new CIDG members to manifest teamwork.

“Those who are physically and intellectually strong help your classmate who are weak and those who feels weak may ask help from their fellow classmates. With this, all of them can graduate the PSBRC (Public Safety Basic Recruit Course) and become a full member of the investigation,” Corpus stressed.
