7 gov’t workers in Cebu positive for drug use

CEBU CITY — Seven government employees in Danao City and Alegria town have been found positive for drug use.

This was reported Friday by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) which started conducting surprise drug testing on government employees in the different towns and cities of the province last December 1.

Five of those workers who tested positive for drugs are with the Danao city government and the two are from the Municipality of Alegria, 115.3 kilometers southwest of Cebu City. Of the seven, two are regular Danao City employees, while the rest are job order workers.

The CPADAO conducted drug testing on the 212 employees of Alegria last Tuesday and carried out the testing of 440 workers of Danao City on Wednesday.

So far, 843 government employees have undergone drug testing this week, based on CPADAO records.

Meanwhile, the female public school teacher in Danao who earlier tested positive has been confirmed as a regular user of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” by a secondary test.

The CPADAO said they have already coordinated with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Danao City Schools Division for the appropriate sanction against the national high school teacher. (Levirose Caballero/PNA)
