MANILA — An official of the Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday said there are no more water shortage-related problems in schools in certain areas of the National Capital Region.

“We have water crisis in Mandaluyong and some other areas in Metro Manila which are served by Manila Water but in other areas served by Maynilad, as of this time, we have no report yet. All these issues regarding water shortage have all been addressed because the local government units as our partners has responded well,” DepEd-National Capital Region (NCR) director, Dr. Wilfredo Cabral, said in a press briefing in Quezon City.

Cabral added the DepEd NCR already had a meeting with all relevant government agencies on how to best address issues caused by the water crisis.

“As of this time, we don’t have any report that the same case as before is happening now. And, it seems like that our water supply has been restored and resumed to normal operation,” she said.

On Thursday, DepEd-Mandaluyong Schools Division Superintendent Nerissa L. Losaria released a memorandum allowing students and teachers in water shortage-hit schools not to wear uniforms.

In line with this, DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla advised that all students and teachers wearing civilian clothes must wear IDs to avoid entrance of unauthorized people in the schools’ premises.
