ILIGAN CITY — Army personnel and medical volunteers reached Saturday (May 4) one of the farthest areas in Lanao del Norte to bring the medical services for residents.

More than a hundred of residents in Sitio Kura-kura, Barangay Tampara in Munai town received medical services and free medicines during the medical and dental mission led by the Maria Cristina Eagles Club, the Army’s 12th Civil-Military Operations, and the Army’s 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion.

Barangay Tamparan is the host of Camp Bilal, the main camp of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front – Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (MILF-BIAF) Northwestern Mindanao Front, led by Abdullah Macapaar, also known as Commander Bravo.

Macapaar, now a commissioner of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) of the newly-created Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) under the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), graced the event and even addressed the residents.

Lt. Col. Bernardo Taqueban, commander of the 4th Mechanized Battalion, said the mission brought in volunteer doctors to help and converge stakeholders to bring basic services and development in far-flung communities.

“Commissioner Macapaar was happy to see his neighborhood, especially the children as beneficiaries of the medical mission. He was asking that more similar activities be done in the area,” Taqueban said.
