PORT OF MANILA – Operatives of the Bureau of Customs-Intelligence Group (BOC-IG) apprehended a fake BOC employee or “Hao Shao” at the Port of Manila (POM) allegedly for his illegal transactions inside the BOC premises.

Agents of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) with the assistance of some of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) detailed at BOC, identified the individual as a certain Allan Carandang, a brother of Noel Carandang, the suspended Chief of the Wharfinger Section, POM.

IG Deputy Commissioner Raniel T. Ramiro questioned Ms. Cecile Pena, Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Wharfinger Section, for allowing the Carandang siblings to have access inside the BOC offices particularly at her section despite their being a “hao shao” and a suspended employee.

Ramiro said that an investigation will be conducted against Pena and the Carandang siblings, including filing of appropriate charges. “The BOC will continue with its Focused Anti-Corruption operations against erring BOC officials and employees” Ramiro stressed.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Philippine Anti-Crime Commission (PACC) Dante Jimenez, congratulated the BOC for its latest accomplishment.
