Southwest monsoon brings rains in Luzon Friday

MANILA — The southwest monsoon (habagat) would bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Luzon Friday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Ilocos Region, Region IV-B (Mimaropa), Zambales, and Bataan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m. Friday.

The tropical depression was 1,815 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness up to 60 kph and moving northwest at 15 kph.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-34 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 17-23 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 26-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 25-32 degrees Celsius.
