New Manila International Airport to break ground in December

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) have signed the concession agreement on the USD15 billion-construction of the Bulacan International Airport which will be called the New Manila International Airport. The groundbreaking ceremony is set on December 2019 at the Bulakan municipality, Bulacan province. The private-equity-funded project aims to decongest air traffic in Metro Manila. Approximately 100 million travelers are expected to use the airport annually. Meanwhile, the SMC will provide house and lot, monetary assistance, livelihood and education to more than 200 families affected by the project.
