Tulunan scratches upcoming festivities

The Municipality of Tulunan, North Cotabato decided to call off its calendared festivities due to the aftermath of a series of strong earthquakes that hit Mindanao in October 2019. It set aside the celebrations of the 58th founding anniversary of Tulunan and the 2nd Tulun Kastifun supposedly scheduled on November 03 to 19, 2019 and replaced them with a mass to be held on the municipal grounds of Tulunan.

The local government of Tulunan continuously receives assistance from different groups and other local governments. There are hundreds of volunteers helping out in the municipality.

The local government officials of Tulunan are hands-on in supervising the relief efforts in the area. Tulunan Councilor Jojo Ortiso informs that there are 24/7 operations in alleviating the condition of the municipality. Further, Tulunan Vice Mayor Maureen Ann Villamor emphasizes that the victims need blankets, mosquito nets, and similar objects in connection with the “camping-like” shelter condition of the afflicted residents. In addition, he mentions that there are already sick individuals from the refugees.
