MMDA presented to the Lower House its game plan on holiday traffic

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) laid down its plans on the House Committee on Metro Manila Development’s table with regard to alleviating the bad traffic condition endured on the road, aggravated by the upcoming holidays. Said scheme consisted of the adjustment of mall hours from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The electricity and water companies were also requested not to conduct fixes on the road in the meantime, except in cases of emergency. The road reblocking and reparation by the Department of Public Works and Highways were also included in the anti-traffic strategy. Road clearing operations, moreover, are in place.

The committee’s lead, Representative Manuel Lopez, informed that President Rodrigo Duterte is reluctant on the proposed emergency powers on traffic condition in his behalf. This must, therefore, be a challenge to the MMDA with respect to easing up the traffic headache.
