DOTr-MARINA to operationalize Cavite-Metro Manila routes via ferry boat

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – To help in easing traffic congestion in Metro Manila through water transport, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), through the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), is set to operationalize the Cavite to Metro Manila, and vice-versa, routes via ferry boat.

The operationalization of the said routes includes the following phases:

1) Phase 1 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to SM MOA Ferry Terminal
2) Phase 1 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to CCP Port
3) Phase 2 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to Escolta, Manila
4) Phase 2 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to Lawton Ferry Terminal

In cooperation of DOTr, through MARINA, PPA and PCG, and other agencies such as Philippine Navy, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) and the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Cavite and Manila, the dry run of the Phase 1 of the Cavite to Metro Manila routes is expected to be conducted in the first week of December 2019.

Meanwhile, shipping companies such as Shogun Ships Co., Incorporated, Starlite Ferries, Incorporated, Seaborne Shipping Lines Incorporated, and Pinoy Catamaran Corporation also showed their interest in participating in the operationalization of the said routes.

Other shipping companies are also encouraged by MARINA to consider deploying their ships to the said routes.
