PAGASA, NWRB advise public to save water

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) have advised the public to save water in preparation for the upcoming summer.

Based on the projection of PAGASA, it is possible a low water level will extend up to the month of May.

If the temperature increases, the domestic water consumption will also be higher causing the water level of Angat Dam to drop even more. The NWRB will be forced to cut current water allocation for domestic use and for irrigation.

According to NWRB Executive director David Sevillo, the normal 42 cubic meters per second set aside for water concessionaires will be trimmed to 40, while the irrigation dams which receive 20 cubic meters per second will be slashed to 15.

PAGASA has advised to preserve water by placing water in tubs, recycling the water, doing laundry less frequently, and fixing broken pipes.
